More than just experiential team building
When it comes to team building activities for the workplace, there are a myriad of options of activities that organizations can do. You’ve probably been involved in a team-building activity at some point in your life. Perhaps it was an offsite weekend retreat, or an afternoon outdoors doing some physical challenges to rely on one another, or simply a get together for drinks and food to get to know each other.
Team-building activities can be a powerful way to unite a group, develop strengths, and address weaknesses – but only if the exercises are planned and carried out strategically. In other words, there has to be a real purpose behind your decision to do the exercise – for example, improving the team’s problem-solving or creativity skills – rather than just a nice day out of the office.
So while there is a place for outdoor, experiential team building activities, we believe that there are other alternative and engaging options which can be, if not more, effective in building high performance teams. Our team building activities provide more emphasis on developing an understanding of both the individuals and how they impact the dynamics of the team they work with.
